Influencing Skills for Effective Leadership
December 2, 2009
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
About the Program:
In this highly practical, fast-paced program, you will build and practice a five-step model for selling others on ideas and action plans relative to the Human Resources function in organizations. The focus of the program is upon gaining commitment from the target of the influencing effort, including your own manager and employees in support departments. You apply the steps to an actual situation requiring influence that you have been, or will be, involved in. This program will stress feedback and explore alternative strategies that you may implement on the job.
Upon completion of this seminar, you will:
- Use influencing as an alternative to power and authority
- Apply and demonstrate proficiency to gain commitment from others with fact-finding skills and influencing steps
Note: In this seminar, you will engage in practice sessions to develop your skills as an influencer. While the focus of this module is on selling in business circumstances, participants may apply the skills to any context they choose, where influencing is appropriate. You will be asked to bring with you to the session a specific situation that you wish to improve through enhancing your influencing skills.
