ABC's of Financial Accounting for HR Professionals

About the Program:
This course focuses on accounting as a system for financial information about business events, emphasizing the basic financial statements of the balance sheet, income statement, and the statement of cash flows. Participants will understand the transformation of information through the use of the double entry paradigm and generally accepted accounting principles. This session assumes no prior accounting knowledge.
Upon completion of this seminar, you will:
- Understand financial statements
- Identify the effects of financial transactions
- Become familiar with the financial accounting process
- Understand basic accounting principles
About the Professor:
Bill Shoemaker is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Graduate School of Management, University of Dallas. During his career at the University, he has taught hundreds of HR professionals the art and science of accounting. He also enjoys teaching CPA Review for various organizations and conducting seminars in accounting and financial planning topics.
He is a practicing Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Dallas Chapter. He is president of Shoemaker and McClanaha, PLLC, a CPA firm serving over two hundred clients specializing in taxation, accounting and financial planning.
He holds a MBA from Golden Gate University and a BS from Little Rock University.
Mr. Shoemaker has been twice honored by the University with the Faculty Achievement Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit and the Bank of America Award for Excellence in Teaching. His academic career has included an assignment in Europe as well as television and on-line teaching.
Before his appointment at UD, he held accounting management positions at three corporations. Immediately after graduation from college, he served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.
