Volunteer Opportunities

Must be a current member of DallasHR in good standing.

Community Relations partners with local non-profit organizations to raise awareness and serve the needs of our community. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to allow our members numerous ways to participate in donating needed supplies and/or time. 

Talent Management provides specific programming and resources for recruiting, retention and all aspects of talent management.

Employment Law & HR Compliance keeps members informed about HR compliance and risk management information, requirements and best practices based on federal, state and local laws as well as potential and pending laws. They work with the Programming Committee and the staff to plan legal updates and programming specific to legislation.

Member Engagement assists new members to become acquainted with the benefits of DallasHR and SHRM, follows up with members who have not yet renewed, and researches ways to improve the benefit value for all members.

Round Tables provide an avenue for connection, learning and collaboration in specialized areas of practice and interest.  Volunteers are encouraged to serve as leaders to coordinate these groups of members in round table discussions and best practice sharing.

Programming is responsible for planning educational programs, workshops, seminars and other educational events to include educational seminars, monthly meeting Programs, Webinars, Legal Breakfast Series, Study Groups, Executive Breakfasts and Around Town Events.

Social Media works with staff to maintain the Social Media program and support corporate communications.

Student Engagement oversees and promotes all student activities for DallasHR. The student program includes a mentor program, the annual Drew Young Scholarship, monthly luncheon student guest program and support to the on-campus SHRM chapters.

Transition Support facilitates the Job-Link program and provides job search support for in-transition HR professionals.

Workforce Readiness works to develop programs to provide education and resources resulting in a more qualified workforce. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to allow our members numerous ways to participate in events for supporting these efforts.

Must be a member in good standing of any Texas State SHRM Chapter

Bookstore is responsible for selecting the books and promotional items available at The HRSouthwest Conference; sets up inventory and operates the Bookstore during The Conference; and organizes the "close" of the Bookstore at the end of The Conference.

College Relations markets The HRSouthwest Conference to students, solicits student sponsorships, coordinates the scholarship program and conducts student orientation at The Conference.

Educational Sessions: selects the educational session speakers, develops The Conference educational programs, recruits facilitator to introduce speakers and open the sessions, handles all communication between The Conference and the speakers before, during and after The Conference, and coordinates audio-visual requirements and pre-conference workshops.

Onsite: is responsible for on-site registration, security, photographer, coordination of on-site sign development and placement, phones, internet, and coordination of business service center.

Special Events coordinates all entertainment, decorations, Conference prize giveaways, including the Grand Prize and Silent Auction (supporting our student sponsorship winners). They also oversee the food/beverage and plant selection.

Social Media works with staff to build the Social Media program and support corporate communications.

Special Services manages the welcome center and part time volunteers to include soliciting volunteers and coordinating schedules. This director also works with staff to develop, document and test new Conference deliverables.
