Round Tables

Are you an HR professional working in a specialized discipline and interested in continuing your HR professional learning? Would you like a chance to network and share best practices with other HR professionals in similar situations?

The DallasHR Round Tables are a Member Benefit that provide an avenue for continuing HR learning, connection and collaboration in specialized areas of practice and interest within the DallasHR membership. Members, who have a bona fide interest in the practice area or industry represented by the Round Table and would like to build a professional network, advance their HR knowledge and communicate information, are encouraged to participate.

  • Employee Engagement
    • The DallasHR Employee Engagement Round Table provides a venue for sharing ideas and best practices that promote and build employee engagement within an organization. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, recruiting/onboarding, empowerment, professional development, career vision, rewards and recognition, the employee/supervisor relationship, and performance evaluation.

    • Members of this round table group discuss real world situations, individual concerns, and strategic initiatives that impact employee engagement.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own stories about, or experience with, current or recent workplace situations that impact engagement. Meetings are open forum format so whatever is top-of-mind that day ultimately drives the discussion. The broad experience base of our members offers a wealth of deep, insightful thinking. If your company is struggling with an HR problem or considering a strategic HR initiative, chances are high others in the group already have direct or indirect experience in those areas. Bring your experience and stories to the meeting, come and learn from others’ successes and failures, and leave with a nugget of helpful insight you can take back to your workplace.

      Sep 5 | Nine Most Common Workplace Hot Buttons | Registration Required (approved for credit)

    • Program Details: The skills to understand personal hot buttons, recognize them in others, and respond in constructive ways while not responding in destructive ways help build trust and integrity.  Understanding the hot buttons can help HR leaders recognize these behaviors in others to better understand why disagreements have happened and recognize when there may be a mis-alignment in roles.  By utilizing proven ways to cool a hot button, HR leaders are both better equipped to address people issues and to prevent people issues via recognition and remediation of this underlying dynamic before escalation.  When people understand their own hot buttons, they are better equipped to mitigate them, which increases trust and collaboration.  And, when people understand that their hot buttons are different from someone else’s, it can help them eliminate preconceived notions about others.  Finally, having received an overview of constructive communication skills vs. destructive skills, they understand productive skills to use when their hot buttons are triggered or when they observe others’ having had their hot buttons triggered.

          Increase the emotional intelligence of HR leaders
