Diversity and Inclusion: A Workplace Perspective

During this session, participants will learn what is meant by diversity, how to manage diversity and the consequences of not managing diversity. In addition, the group will discuss the challenges of workplace diversity including diversity bias.

Learning Objectives:
  • Define diversity and understand why it is so important
  • Identify the consequences of not managing diversity
  • Implement policies and strategies to manage diversity

About the Speaker

William Turner, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Director of Human Resources

William has been serving as a Human Resources leader at Axxess for five years helping the company grow from 30 employees to 230 and forming an award-winning culture recognized on 13 occasions as a ‘Best Place to Work’. He is passionate about creating opportunities for those unable to represent themselves in the workforce. Individuals with disabilities, minorities and the homeless are some the groups he has devoted his time to in the Dallas Region. He has served as a Board member with Dallas Mayor's Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities since 2008.

Prior to joining Axxess William was with Blockbuster for 21 years serving in leadership roles in the areas of Human Resources, Operations, Distribution/Logistics and IT.  He is a graduate of Mississippi State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management and Marketing.
