Building a Foundation to Talent Management and Why It Matters

Talent Management has become an all-encompassing term for talent acquisition, talent development, organizational development and everything in between. Because of this, it can become too broad and vague and therefore, result in a lack of clarity and tie in between all the various functions.

During the presentation, attendees will learn why it is important to have a strong foundation to talent management, why it matters to HR and the organization at large and best practices in developing the foundation.

About the Speakers

Nicholas Meyer
Manager, Global Talent Management
Jacobs Engineering

Nicholas (Nick) Meyer is the Manager, Global Talent Management for Jacobs Engineering, a global Fortune 250 organization with 60k employees. There, he is responsible for developing and maintaining Jacobs’ talent management programs.

Prior to Jacobs, Nick was the Director of Global Talent Development at Oceaneering International. There, he was responsible for the talent management strategy for the 13,000 person oil & gas and aerospace and technology company. 

In addition to Oceaneering, Nick has held various talent management leadership positions with The Kroger Co., and Starwood Hotels. In addition, he has consulted with many Fortune 500 organizations in the areas of talent management, organizational design and organizational development. 

Nick is certified in various assessments, leadership development programs and process design methodologies. He also holds a BS from the University of South Alabama.

Shaun Small
Manager, Job Architecture and Talent Engine
Jacobs Engineering


Shaun Small is the Manager, Job Architecture and Talent Engine for Jacobs. Shaun has over 10 years of organizational design and talent management experience and joined Jacobs most recently from Pepsi where he created career frameworks and led talent acceleration initiatives. Shaun is originally from New York and relocated to Texas almost two years ago. He has an undergraduate degree from SUNY Albany and a graduate degree from NYU.

Please make arrangements to be on time. Lunch service will cease when the presentation begins. This is a rule set by the HR Certification Institute for presentations that are approved for credit.
Attendees who arrive after 11:50 AM may not be served lunch.

Chapter members and guests are not allowed to bring and/or distribute collateral material other than business cards to any chapter event except paid sponsoring businesses. Violation of this policy will result in dismissal from the meeting and confiscation of materials.
