Managing & Developing Multi-Generational Leaders

With five generations in many workplaces today, leaders must understand basic differences in values, life experience, and expectations within each generation. However, in addition to becoming aware of these differences, leaders must also plan for the resulting conflict that comes into play with this many age groups all with differing ideas about their careers, goals and motivations. By sharing real life examples with panelists from top organizations, participants will discover how to develop leaders who can manage a multi-generational workforce by understanding the best tools, techniques and programs to use to bring out the best in this challenging environment.

About the Moderator:

Valerie Freeman

Valerie Freeman is the founder and CEO of Dallas-based Imprimis Group, Inc., a leading supplier of staffing, recruiting, human resource and outsourcing services. Valerie is also a founder and owner/member of ANSERTEAM, LLC, a national staffing company. She is also a founder of Texas Women Ventures where she serves on the Investment Committee and PrimeWomen.com, an online lifestyle magazine for women over the age of 50.

Valerie has served on many boards of civic and business organizations over her 30-year career. Currently, she serves on the Boards of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Executive Women’s Roundtable of the Dallas Regional Chamber, The Dallas Foundation (Audit Committee), and the Dallas County Community College District Foundation where she is past Chair of the Board. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Alliance of Technology and Women. She is a member of the Leadership Texas Alumni Association, YPO/WPO, the International Women’s Forum, Dallas Assembly, Dallas Summit, and Girls Scouts Board Development (Past Board Chair).

Valerie holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Houston where she was honored as Distinguished Alum. She speaks widely on topics involving entrepreneurship and human resources.

About the Panelists:

Amy Messersmith

At TDIndustries, there is no “HR department” – there’s a People department, and leading that group is Amy Messersmith. Amy is responsible for TD’s most valuable asset - its people. She is responsible for directing the company’s performance effectiveness through the development of our talent growth, leadership succession, and employee engagement. Previously, Amy has built her vast experience in employee engagement, talent acquisition, company culture development, corporate social responsibility, and strategic HR operations with companies like Pizza Hut, PepsiCo, and Frito Lay North America. Amy’s passion for helping people and organizations achieve their full potential began with her roots in management consulting at both Accenture and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where she worked with companies across a broad spectrum of industries and sectors. Amy brought her results-driven brand of leadership to TDIndustries in 2017.

Amy earned her BBA in Business Management from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and currently serves on the board of Uplift Education Charter School System.

Allison Lyons, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

Allison Lyons leads the development and implementation of Toyota's employment brand strategy and related programs to attract and engage the talent pool. Allison leads a team of strategic branding, social media analysts to help drive long-term partnerships with varied business partners and identifies new innovative approaches to the talent acquisition candidate experience. In this role, she executes a varied talent attraction strategy that leverages best-in-class practices supports business objectives, improves business performance, and gains a return on investment for the business. Additionally, Allison is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of hourly and contingent worker programs at Toyota by partnering with the Master Service Provider (MSP).

Prior to joining Toyota, Allison served as the National Director of Human Resources for Tenent Healthcare where she led the change management activities for this emerging group’s growth from 400 employees to over 7000 in five years and directed and led over 16 HR team members nationally among other responsibilities.

Allison received her Master’s degree in HR Management from University of North Florida and completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration at Marquette University.

Sid Srivastava
VP, Organizational Capability & Effectiveness

Sid Srivastava leads the Organizational Capability and Effectiveness department for Cinemark. His key areas of focus include: setting up the leadership development framework for the Company, contemporizing the talent management process to reflect changing business direction and Partnering with global regions on all organizational development and effectiveness efforts. The primary goal of Sid’s team is to elevate organizational capabilities that deliver superior business results and position Cinemark competitively in the industry today and in the future. Prior to joining Cinemark, Sid had spent 10 years at GE in various business units in the US, India and UAE.

Please make arrangements to be on time. Lunch service will cease when the keynote presentation begins. This is a rule set by the HR Certification Institute for presentations that are approved for credit.
Attendees who arrive after 11:50 AM may not be served lunch.
