As Melanie Shaffer is the President/Founder of Talent Suite focused on leading practices for Human Capital Management Consulting and Retained Search. Prior to founding the Talent Suite, Melanie spent 16 years as an Executive Search Recruiter with both a boutique firm and a national publicly held recruiting firm where she was consistently ranked in the top 5% of recruiters in her company nationally. She has always had a passion for partnering with her clients to understand their business challenges, values and culture allowing her to become a trusted advisor in developing meaningful and measurable talent performance objectives.
Melanie has always been drawn to developing people and as such, is a Predictive Index Certified Partner and is also a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. She utilizes Predictive Index to support her clients in their selection, development and retention initiatives. Rachel Plugge currently serves as the Talent Assessment and Selection Manager for Baylor Scott & White Health’s (BSWH) Talent Management team. In this role, she leads the creation and implementation of selection and assessment strategies for the integrated system. This team focuses on developing selection interventions that will change and enhance the way BSWH hires talent as well as establishes assessment strategies for employee and leadership development.
Prior to joining BSWH, Rachel was a Consultant at Kenexa. In this role she managed clients, consulted around assessments and services, and identified ways to improve customer service and client satisfaction. Rachel conducted assessment trend analysis for clients and contributed to a variety of product innovations and research projects. Prior to this role, she was a Personnel Psychologist at the Office of Personnel Management where she consulted with government clients on a variety of individual assessment projects.
Rachel holds a M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the George Mason University. She graduated with University Honors from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration. Rachel is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society, the Society of Industrial / Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Young Professionals Group.
Sr. Consultant, Talent Selection & Assessment

Joshua Hatfield is a Senior Consultant on the Talent Selection and Assessment team at Baylor Scott & White Health. In his current role, he helps develop, implement, and evaluate enterprise selection and assessment solutions. Additionally, he provides consultation support to develop selection strategies tailored to meet the needs of specific lines of business. Joshua is an ADEPT-15 certified coach and has developed tailored feedback reports for executive candidates. He also moonlights as an employee engagement subject matter expert where he provides consultation on survey methodology, engagement theories, and data interpretation.
Prior to joining Baylor Scott & White Health, Joshua gained over 10 years of internal and external consulting experience. He served as a Personnel Research Psychologist for the U.S. Secret Service where he managed the hiring processes for the Special Agent and Uniformed Division positions. Joshua led the redesign of the hiring process for the Uniformed Division to include a more holistic candidate evaluation that utilized interactive job-simulated scenarios. Prior to that role, he developed his talent selection and assessment capability working for an international consulting firm where he provided end-to-end human capital solutions for mostly federal and state organizations. His experiences included selection test development and validation, organizational competency-gap analysis, 360-degree assessment development and validation, leadership assessment, organizational surveys, and program evaluation.
Joshua received his B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Kansas State University.
