Webinar

Asian Latino Parallels

August 9, 2012
11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The US Census projected that by 2040 the United States will become a majority-minority nation with Asian Americans and Latinos being the two fastest growing minority groups. Along with cultural diversity, our increasingly internationalized population also brings challenges to our daily communication with those who look or speak differently from us.

This webinar presents little-known similarities between Asian Americans and Latinos in their immigration experience as well as their cultural values that can bring us closer and thus work more effectively together.

These learnings will be a valuable tool for all organizations as demographics of our workforce continue to change and HR professionals are responsible to ensure their organizations are prepared for change.

About the Speakers

JULIA W. SO, Ph.D., Principle of So García Associates, LLC

A retired college professor, administrator and international speaker, Dr. So has been speaking on diversity & inclusiveness, leadership & change, and Asian & Latino cultures since 1995. With decades of international experience working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds while living in Hong Kong, Japan and Ecuador, she is an expert on cultural communication codes.

While living in Dallas, Dr. So successfully managed a $30-million scholarship program for the Dallas County Community College District. A compassionate volunteer, she was board chair of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and president of North Texas Chapter of the Texas Diversity Council.

Some of her clients include the Department of Defense, the Internal Revenue Service, the City of Dallas, the City of Tallahassee, the University of North Dakota, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
