Mental Health & Workplace Productivity: What is the Relationship?
The presentation will provide general information about mental illness, particularly as it relates to the American workplace today. Presentation content will explore the impact that behavioral health issues have on the workplace, as well as how the workplace can affect employees’ mental health. The speaker will address employers’ responsibilities and discuss the business case for talking about and addressing behavioral health at work. Information on how to identify and address issues will be provided, along with a variety of resources to help employers deal with this subject in a sensitive and constructive way.
After this presentation, participants should:
- Be able to articulate the impact of mental illness on business costs
- Appreciate the importance of addressing mental health at work
- Feel better equipped to discuss these issues with managers
- Know the resources available to assist with mental health issues
- Be motivated to make changes that will create and sustain emotionally healthy workplaces
About the Speaker
ELANOR R. GOODWIN, MS, LPC, WORK RETURNS PROGRAM MANAGER, GREEN OAKS HOSPITAL
Eleanor Goodwin, MS, brings significant experience and education to her current role as program manager and therapist with Green Oaks Hospital’s Outpatient Services. After earning a BA in Psychology from Temple University and an MS in Industrial Relations from Purdue University, Eleanor built a successful career in human resources spanning several decades and various industries. Most recently, she held the position of Director of Talent Management for North America with a global telecommunications company. Eleanor decided several years ago to capitalize more fully on her skills and interest in working with people, both individually and in groups. After earning SMU’s graduate certificate in dispute resolution, she went on to complete her MS in Counseling at SMU and recently received full licensure as a professional counselor in the state of Texas. Her current areas of expertise include stress management, anxiety and depression, mindfulness, grief recovery, career challenges and helping others navigate transitions.
