Q: Which certification does DallasHR recommend?
A: DallasHR supports both the SHRM and HRCI certifications for our members. The HRCI certifications build human resources knowledge and the SHRM certifications provide HR professionals with the competency to apply it.

Q: What materials are provided?
A: Each facilitator creates their own materials for each module. You are typically provided with PowerPoint presentations and/or additional supplemental study materials.
Q: How can I connect with other participants and the facilitators?
A: Class participants will be added to a private community within HRConnect, so you can connect with other classmates and your facilitators to ask questions or share advice outside of class. Before the class begins you will be invited to this online community.
Q: What materials are recommended?
A: HRCI Exam – HRCI.org offers a variety of bundled prep materials when you sign up for the exam. We have historically heard from past participants that investing in the PHR|SPHR Professional in Human Resources Certification Study Guide by Reed & Bogardus, using of the flash card system and participating in peer study groups were most influential in their success of passing the exam. HRCI also offers the option to bundle study materials when signing up for the exam on their website.
SHRM Exam – As a SHRM-affiliate chapter, DallasHR receives a significant discount on the
SHRM Learning System. DallasHR extends this savings to those participating in our study group if we have at least five students interested. Contact

Q: Who are the facilitators and what are their credentials?
A: All facilitators are HR professionals who hold an HRCI and/or SHRM certification. Additionally, many of them teach certification preparation courses at local colleges and universities.
Q: How do I get the materials from a session that I miss?
A: Materials will be made available to those who were unable to attend at the next class.
Q: How do I sign up to take the HR Certification Exams?

Q: Can we receive recertification credits for participating in this course?
A: No, recertification credits are not available for this course.
Q: How does the study group differ from the university programs?
A: The DallasHR study group meets for nine weeks but the total class time is less than that experienced in university programs. It offers a structured learning experience that helps keep you on track. The study group is ideal for HR professionals that have a limited budget and feel comfortable in a self-study environment with the option of partnering with other HR professionals in their area.
Q: How do I activate my one-year DallasHR Membership?
A: Once your study group registration has been processed by DallasHR, your one-year membership will be activated within 48 hours. A staff member will reach out to you to obtain any additional information needed to process your membership, so you can gain access to the online member-only community to engage in the class discussion group. If you choose to opt out of the one-year membership you will not be reimbursed.
