"The Power of a Second Chance"

Jordan Rogers recovered from heroin addiction after (and in spite of) a year of incarceration. He shared his story with people who needed it for years privately and finally shared it publicly a few years ago. He has been commended both inside and outside the workplace for his openness. As he reflected over his 10 year sabbatical at Nike recently, he thought of the richness of his professional experience. He'd been all over the world working with the brightest people, athletes and creatives in this industry. Jordan was able to get this opportunity because he hadn't been convicted of a felony so he didn't have to "check the box", but if he had, his life might be so different.

The Great Resignation is colliding with Mass Incarceration in America. There are countless men and women ready, willing and anxious to be your best employee. 78 million Americans have a criminal record (nearly 1/4 of our population) and 5 million have a felony conviction that punishes them and our society forever. Studies show that second chance hires have lower turnover, higher loyalty and the whole community benefits when they remain gainfully employed.

Would you consider giving others a second chance? You never know whose life you could change forever.

Join Jordan as he discusses his journey, what a second chance gave him and the barriers we are creating for ourselves as a country when we continue to restrict the willing genius and labor in the workforce of America.

Jordan Rogers

Jordan Rogers built a ten year career in brand marketing at Nike (Field Sports, Women’s & Basketball) after recovering from heroin addiction & incarceration. He recently founded Perseus Creative, a marketing consultancy focused on helping college athletes learn how to navigate the new NIL Landscape. His passion in life is to invest in others, advocate for second chances and to bring about transformation in our country’s Criminal Justice system to help us break free from mass incarceration.
