The most common reason HR strategic plans fail is a lack of integration with business plans. Without a clear understanding of business goals and priorities, it's difficult to rise above the role of being a transactional function to become a strategic player in business strategy execution. The primary goal of this course is to help HR professionals better understand their business strategy, and to explore the ways that the management of human capital can help the company achieve its strategic objectives. Specific tools will be provided to help participants make the linkages between business strategy and HR clearer, and we guide you in the development of integrated Annual and Strategic HR plans.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
- Recognize key strategic issues and improve your strategic planning process
- Understand your company’s business model and primary competitive business strategy
- Conduct a human capital environmental scan to help predict the future
- Distinguish between a workforce driven strategy and a strategy driven workforce
- Use scenario analysis in modeling uncertain, competitive environments
- Assess a firm's competitive strategy and the organizational structure and resources that enable it to implement that strategy
- Translate business priorities into talent needs
- Identify workforce implications of business strategy
- Develop a Business and People SWOT to identify sources of competitive advantage
- Use strategic workforce planning to identify talent management risks associated with business objectives
- Develop systems and blueprints for coordinating activities across business units and functions
- Prioritize HR initiatives and build and integrated plan
- Link strategic business objectives to HR metrics and report progress against strategic goals
- Monitor and adapt HR strategy as business conditions change
- Budget for and communicate integrated HR/Business strategy outcomes
