Times Four – Starring Joe Marlotti:
Enjoy the Multi-Generational Ride

Employers today have the unique “opportunity” of dealing with four generations in the the workplace at one time. Each generation has its own traits and its own focus:

  • Traditionalists are those born before 1946. These individuals are patriotic, loyal and have a great deal of faith in institutions. There are currently about 75 million traditionalists in the United States.
  • The largest group of employees are the baby boomers (those born from 1946 through 1964). This generation of 80 million folks is idealistic, competitive and they question authority.
  • Generation X’ers are the smallest group at 46 million and were born from 1965 through 1981. They are self-reliant, distrustful of institutions and adaptive to technology.
  • The fourth generation, millennials, were born from 1982 through 2000 and represent 76 millon of the US population. These individuals are pragmatic, globally concerned, computer literate and media savvy.

Consultants Lynne Lancaster and David Stillman recognized that the vast differences between these four generations have created a great deal of tension and conflict in the workplace. Lancaster and Stillman founded Bridgeworks, an organization dedicated to helping to solve the “generational puzzle”. Their book, When Generations Collide: Who They Are. Why They Clash. How to Solve the Generational Puzzle at Work, provides insight into how employers can manage the conflict that is inevitable when diverse opinions permeate the workplace. But, they did not stop there! They developed a platform to showcase a humorous look at what happens when the generations collide. The content of a TimesFour presentation uses humor and entertainment to bring home generational education and strategies.

Comedian Joe Marlotti is currently the “voice” of TimesFour and brings his passion and comedic talent to help address the problems with a multi-generational workforce. Marlotti is a career comic, actor and writer. Joe has been seen opening for Jeff Foxworthy, Gloria Estefan, Glen Campbell and Al Jarreau. His accomplishments include television appearances on Evening at the Improv, Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, Comedy Central and Star Search. Marlotti uses his writing experiences to customize TimesFour presentations to his audience.
