As I am writing this, I am thinking that it is difficult to believe it is time to begin the election and appointment process for 2007. Didn’t we just finish the 2006 process? Next thing you know, Holiday decorations will show up at Wal-Mart!
It has been a fast and furious year at DHRMA and we are excited about all the activities we have scheduled and plans that are in the pipeline for continuing to improve the deliverables to our members and Conference attendees.
During the month of August, we will deliver more educational opportunities in a 30-day period than we delivered in the entire year of 2002. With more than 7 full days scheduled, our membership has an opportunity to secure over 45 recertification credit hours in one month!
HR Southwest will bring “Next Generation HR: Imagine the Future” to the Fort Worth Convention Center October 16-20 and will celebrate the 65th anniversary of our Conference. The pre-conference workshop schedule continues to grow and will offer five options for either a full day or half day of education, all approved for recertification credit hours.
Here is an opportunity to be part of all the exciting activities that are scheduled and participate as a leader in this organization. We are fortunate to have a small staff to keep all this activity organized, but we could not do our jobs without a terrific group of volunteers. Just in our leadership Boards, there are 45 dedicated volunteers and most of them have a committee working with them.
We need your support now, as it is time once again to determine our leaders for next year. Our Bylaws require that interested members submit an application form if they have an interest in serving in a leadership position. The Volunteer Leadership Interest Form is available on our website on the Governance Page.
Individuals interested in applying for one of the three positions that require a membership vote (one Trustee, President Elect of Dallas HR and Conference Director Elect for HR Southwest) shall submit a completed form to Diane McClendon (diane@dallashr.org), Executive Director, no later than midnight, August 15, 2006.
The forms will be reviewed by a Nominating Committee to ensure qualification to hold office prior to the ballot being presented to the membership for voting. Ballots will be distributed by e-mail no later than August 31. In accordance with our Bylaws criteria, only Professional and General members are permitted to hold elected office.

All other leadership positions are appointed and include Directors and Chairs that serve on the two Boards of Dallas HR and HR Southwest.
