President's Letter
August 2006
Rain!
That’s pretty much what’s on my mind these days. That, and Dallas HR’s call for volunteer leaders for 2007. Yes, it’s time again for those of you who have an interest in stepping up to a leadership role to let us know of your interest.
The official way to do that is through a Volunteer Leader Interest Form (VLIF) which doesn’t commit you, but helps us determine who’s out there and in what area(s) their interests lie. You don’t have to have a specific role in mind – just a willing spirit, commitment to Dallas HR, openness to new ways of doing things, and the energy to pitch in and be a part of a great team.
And while I’m on the subject, I’d like to say a special thanks to the terrific leadership team we have in place this year! They’re working hard to bring a broad array of programming, networking and learning opportunities that fit with our diverse membership’s needs. If you haven’t taken the time to meet them and thank them yourself, I hope you do so soon.
While you’re at it, you could ask them what they get out of serving as a volunteer. Their answers might surprise you.
Our volunteers (and of course, our super Dallas HR staff) make this organization what it is – and you can be a part of it, too. Yes, I know you have a full plate at work. However, I also know that the best way to get something done is to give it to someone who’s busy. Somehow we manage to get everything covered as a team – even when one of us has our paying job get in the way.
Bottom line, if you do choose to volunteer, you’ll be as welcome as rain!
