The James Wilkins, Jr. award was created in honor of Jim Wilkins, who dedicated his career to furthering the Human Resource profession. This $1,000 award is designed to assist the recipient with the professional development endeavors of his or her choice. The award is presented each year to a member of Dallas HR who has demonstrated their commitment to the field of Human Resources through pursuit of academic and professional achievement.
At the luncheon meeting on January 10, 2006, Ms. Yulya Bushnell was presented with the 2005 James Wilkins, Jr. Award.
For the past 4 years, Yulya has worked in Human Resources at the Infant and Toddler Intervention Program of North Texas. Prior to that, Yulya was the FMLA Coordinator for the City of Plano. Yulya earned her Masters of Liberal Arts degree, along with a graduate Certificate in Mediation from Southern Methodist University. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix. Her next goal is to obtain a Doctor of Management in Organization Leadership.
In addition to her academic and professional accomplishments, Yulya has held numerous volunteer leadership positions with the Dallas Chapter of Blacks in Government, Plano ISD and Youth Leadership Program, and Chaired the United Way Campaign for 3 consecutive years.
In her letter of recommendation, Vicki Deaver, who is the Chief Operating Officer for the Infant and Toddler Intervention Program, had this to say about Yulya:
“She is an articulate, dependable, talented and dedicated individual with an enthusiasm for life and professional growth. Yulya has a passion for knowledge and seeks to expand this knowledge whenever possible. Yulya is always willing to offer her assistance and time to her children, co-workers and community.”
