March 2006

By the time you read this, Dallas HR will have hosted our first Happy Hour of 2006. I’m certain it was a rousing success, since we were all there (weren’t we?) If for some reason, you weren’t able to join us – e.g. you were out of town, were doing your hair, or trapped under something large – never fear. We’ll be arranging more of these events on a regular basis, where our members and friends will have the chance to get to know each other in an informal, social setting.

Dallas HR’s Happy Hours are opportunities to do some networking, a word that strikes fear in many of our members and that is a life skill we as HR professionals need for success in our careers. If you are network-phobic, you’ll be pleased to know that our March 14th membership luncheon speaker, Dean Lindsay, will be speaking on "Cracking the Networking CODE: 4 Steps to Priceless Business Relationships.” It’s your chance to learn more about the mysteries of networking in a safe environment – and eat lunch at the same time.

Also, at our March luncheon, our Professional Emphasis Groups will be hosting a PEG Fair, where you can find out more about those specialty areas where you can network (yes, network) and share information, best practices and ideas with people who have similar interests. Be sure to come early to the luncheon, so you’ll have time to check out the fair.

Incidentally, Dallas HR sold out our January and February luncheons, so please do not delay in making your reservation. We’d hate for you to miss out. And we’d hate to miss seeing you!
