Dallas HR Sponsors First Job Shadow Day
|
One of the goals of the Dallas HR Professional Development Committee is to launch a Job Shadowing program in 2006 with local universities to allow students who are majoring in Human Resources to experience a day in the life of an HR professional.
The Job Shadow Program is being piloted by the SHRM student chapter at the University of Texas-Arlington. Approximately 15 students have registered to spend one day with a member of Dallas HR during the week of March 20-24, 2006.
Now, it's time for us to determine which Dallas HR members would be interested in serving as a Job Shadow "host" for one day that week. Our goal is to ensure that the students have a meaningful experience, while not causing an undue burden on the host sponsor.
The student will "shadow" their host sponsor while they go about their daily routines. Ideally, the Job Shadowing experience will allow the students to gain insights about the Human Resources field and assist them in making decisions about their future job search efforts, as well as provide them with valuable networking opportunities.
If you would like to volunteer a day of your time during the week of March 20-24, 2006, to host a student at your organization, please click to download and complete the Host Sponsor form. Return it to Jude Coward, Dallas HR Student Services Chair, via email (jude.coward@fairmont.com) or fax (214-720-5325), by March 10, 2006.
