The Dallas Human Resource Management Association, Inc. sponsors the Drew Young Student Scholarship Award to encourage students who are preparing for, or are currently employed in, careers in the field of Human Resources management. The winner receives a $2,000 cash award (made payable to their school) and complementary registration to the HR Southwest Conference and Exposition.
After consideration of outstanding applications from graduate and undergraduate candidates throughout the South Central Region, Huma Naz was awarded the 2006 Drew Young Student Scholarship. The selection was based on accomplishments in human resources, academics, campus and community involvement and recommendations from professors, advisors and/or employers.
Huma is currently attending the University of Tulsa, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a specialization in Human Resources and Business Law. In the spring of 2007, Huma plans to continue her education in the MBA program. Based on her scholastic achievements, Huma has been named to the University’s President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll.
For the past two years, Huma has been an active member of the University of Tulsa’s student SHRM chapter and has participated in the state, regional and national competitions. Having served as the Chapter’s secretary last year, Huma is currently the Chapter President. In addition, Huma has held HR intern positions with the American Red Cross and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group.
According to Dr. P.C. Smith, Professor of Management and Student SHRM Chapter Advisor at the University of Tulsa: “Huma is the kind of student that every professor and advisor wishes for but rarely gets to work with. She has a terrifically positive attitude, an excellent sense of humor and is always in pursuit of excellence.”
Huma Naz truly represents the best of the best, and her achievements deserve our sincere congratulations!
