Globalization. Employee Engagement. Sarbanes-Oxley. Immigration Reform. Rising Health Care Costs. Identity Theft. Strategic Human Resources.
These “ripped from the headlines” phrases illustrate how rapidly the business world is changing and how much it is influenced by global events and rapid technological innovations. It is imperative that Human Resource professionals be prepared to handle the impact that these drivers will have on organizations and their employees. The good news is that the HR Southwest Conference is fully prepared to offer HR practitioners a way to navigate their way into this next generation of HR and to have fun doing it!
Based on last year’s Conference demographics, this year’s Conference will host over 2,300 HR professionals representing 28 states. These attendees will have the opportunity to meet, learn and share their ideas for improving the HR profession and organizational performance in these dynamic and demanding times. Some of the resources that will be available to HR professionals during the conference include:
-
Pre-Conference Workshops covering such diverse topics as “Developing the HR Strategic Edge”, “Employee Selection”, “HR as Advocates”, and “Fundamentals of Employee Relations”. In addition, a PHR/SPHR Crash Course will be offered to help coach HR professionals through the certification process.
-
Over 100 educational sessions in eight distinct learning tracks: Benefits/Compensation; Legal/Regulatory; Staffing/Recruiting; Students; Employee/Employer Relations; Personal/Professional Growth; Strategic Human Resources; and Training and Organizational Development.
-
Over 260 companies will be represented in the Conference Exhibit Hall to showcase the latest tools and resources that can be used to help support HR initiatives and organizational goals.
In addition to all of the wonderful educational opportunities, the Conference is pleased to offer attendees a number of ways to relax and have fun during these four action packed days. The Conference keynote speakers are sure to entertain and inspire! On Wednesday, October 18th, Tim Sanders will show us the importance of the “likeability factor”. Joe Marlotti will walk us through the sometimes humorous generational differences in the workplace at the Conference Thursday luncheon. Finally, on Friday Erin Gruwell will share her experiences as an inner city teacher and inspire attendees with the possibilities that are around us all if we can tap into everyone’s passion and potential.
There will also be several opportunities to network with other HR professionals at the Conference. Attendees will be able to kick off the conference with a fun-filled Tuesday evening opening reception guaranteed to energize and entertain. On Wednesday evening, exhibitor hospitality receptions will be held at the Conference headquarter hotel, the Renaissance Worthington. Finally, the Conference invites all Conference attendees to ‘let their hair down’ at the Past, Present, Future evening event on Thursday.
We hope that you will join us for the 65th anniversary of the HR Southwest Conference! More information on the conference and the opportunities it provides to HR professionals can be found at the Conference website, www.hrsouthwest.com. The resources provided during the Conference will be sure to make the next generation of HR a successful one!
