Morning – Preparing for Strategic HR

We begin with a discussion of the changing role of HR as a strategic partner and review strategic management concepts in the HR Body of Knowledge. The following topics will be covered:

  • The Role of HR in Organizations
  • Strategies for Implementing Change
  • Steps for Effective Project Planning

Morning - Strategic Management Tools

In this second “tools” session, we will continue to add HR Strategic Management concepts to your toolbox:

  • Scanning the External Environment – Strategic Planning
  • SWOT Analysis – Strategic Planning
  • Creating HR Metrics
  • Implementing a HR Scorecard

Afternoon - Strategic Management Tools

In this first of two "tools" sessions, we will discuss practical information and step-by-step advice on how to implement many of the concepts contained in the Strategic Management HR Body of Knowledge to include:

  • Aligning HR with the Business
  • Issues For Building A Strategic Point Of View
  • Strategic Partnering for Success
  • Becoming a Trusted Advisor using HR Knowledge for Partnering
  • Completing a Talent-Profit Chain

Afternoon - Legislative Affairs and Implementation

Participants will review hot legislative topics and discuss the impact to their organization.  We then work on project plans to implement a strategic initiative.

  • Completing an Ethics Checkup
  • Legislative Affairs
  • Development of your strategic project implementation plan
  • Tips for continued learning
  • Receive feedback on strategic plans

About our Instructor

Deborah Avrin, SPHR, brings over 18 years human resources and training experience to her consulting business. Prior to beginning her practice, Deborah held a variety of top-level HR leadership positions in both financial services and manufacturing. During her career, she has developed and delivered numerous training courses including: Leadership, Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Performance Appraisal, Interviewing & Teambuilding. Her reputation is as a motivator with an inspiring training style that encourages others to excel.

Her educational background includes a BBA in Human Resources and a Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior. Deborah holds a lifetime Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and is an instructor for the SHRM Workshop for PHR/SPHR certification through the University of Dallas.
