www.dol.gov - The U.S. Department of Labor web site is home to the federal agencies that regulate wage and hour issues (Wage and Hour Division), safety (OSHA and MSHA), veterans affairs (VETS), government contractors (OFCCP) and many other matters. Mandatory posters, the OFCCP's Equal Opportunity Survey form and instructions; advice on military leaves under USERRA; wage and hour information for FLSA and FMLA; VETS-100 form and instructions.

www.dol.gov/esa/ofccp/index.htm - Find a sample affirmative action program for small employers (under 150 employees) posted on the OFCCP web site 

www.eeoc.gov - The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission web site contains a lot of guidance on Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). It also instructs individuals on how to file a charge of discrimination and lists all field offices to facilitate filings against employers. Additionally you will find the Investigator's Compliance Manual; statistics on the number and types of charges being filed against employers.

www.ftc.gov - The Federal Trade Commission web site is home to the infamous opinion letter that applies the Fair Credit Reporting Act’s notice and authorization requirements to internal investigations that are conducted by third parties. Click on "Business Guidance" and then FCRA.

www.bcis.gov - The Immigration and Naturalization Service web site contains the law, regs and forms, including the Form I-9 which (we’ve been told again and again) is going to be revised; along with the status of H1-B visa caps.

www.dhs.gov/dhspublic - The United States Department of Homeland Security provides information on preparing your business for emergencies and disasters. 

www.irs.ustreas.gov - The Internal Revenue Service has a particularly good keyword search feature, to help you find information on taxation and withholding issues. You can access free newsletters, including one called Employee Plans Corner; and lots of forms and publications.

janweb.icdi.wvu.edu - The Job Accommodation Network web site is a treasure trove of ideas for accommodating various disabilities in the workplace.

www.nlrb.gov - The National Labor Relations Board is a well-organized site with easy access to what you need from the home page. Click on "Forms" and you will find forms for filing a charge against an employer (Form 501) and a petition for a union election (Form 502).

www.ssa.gov - The Social Security Administration web site will explain Medicare, Medicaid, employer wage reporting and you can even find out how much your individual SSA benefit will be, using an on-line calculator.

www.texasnewhire.state.tx.us - The State of Texas New Hire Program web site explains the law that requires employers to report certain data on newly hired and rehired employees to a State Directory. You will also find the form and information on how to file electronically.

www.txdps.state.tx.us - The Texas Department of Public Safety web site has, among other things, posters (in English and Spanish) banning handguns from your workplace.

www.capitol.state.tx.us - Texas Legislature Online lets you find out who your representatives are, how to contact them and the status of pending legislation. Note: The Texas Legislature is in recess and will not convene again until January 2001.

www.twcc.state.tx.us - The Texas Workers Compensation Commission web site contains the required postings and detailed information about the law.

www.twc.state.tx.us - The Texas Workforce Commission web site provides information on unemployment insurance, the payday law and much more. Click on "employer services" to sample the site.

www.workingforthefuture.org -This site provides sample letters and links to Congress, in support of "fixing" FMLA before expanding its scope.

www.mimdms.com/jrc.html - You will find the EEO-1 form and instructions; job classifications guide (maps the 1990 census job codes into the 9 EEO-1 categories)

www.osha.gov - Provides safety training program materials, including Power point slides; user-friendly search of directives that may apply to your employer.
