Dallas HR Committee Descriptions
Qualifications: Must be a member in good standing of Dallas HR.
Community Relations:The Community Relations Committee partners throughout the year with several local non-profit organizations to raise awareness and serve the needs of our community.
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to allow our members numerous ways to participate in donating needed supplies and/or your time. Donations are collected at our Monthly Luncheon Meetings at the Community Relations table.
Diversity: This committee is committed to developing diversity initiatives that foster an environment of inclusion, where diversity is integrated and celebrated. The committee is responsible for coordinating the annual Dallas HR Diversity Conference.
Governmental Affairs: This committee keeps members apprised of pending local, state and federal legislation that may impact areas of concern for HR professionals and offers a full day Employment Law Conference. Dallas HR also undertakes grass-roots campaigns to influence legislation.
Member Engagement: This committee assists new members to become acquainted with the benefits of Dallas HR and SHRM, follows up with members who have not yet renewed, and researches ways to improve the benefit value for all members.
- Ambassadors: This committee serves as table hosts at the monthly membership meetings. Ambassadors greet attendees, engage table introductions and conversations and answer questions about the organization.
- Executive HR Relations: This new initiative was created to address some of the difficult Human Resource organizational issues that are facing Dallas’ mid to large corporations. The “by invitation only” committee is for senior Human Resource leaders and will kick off the first of six meetings in March 2008. The committee’s agenda for 2008 is to create a best practice report for membership to include: alignment across competing divisions, cultural morphing and financial metrics.
- Member Events: This committee is responsible for organizing quarterly networking Happy Hours and other networking opportunities.
- Member Relations: This committee (in conjunction with the Member Engagement team) is responsible for identifying and pursuing new sources for prospective members and identifies programs and partnerships to enhance member benefits.
Professional Development : This committee coordinates the monthly luncheon meetings' educational content and works with the speakers to tailor their presentations. In addition to the luncheons, this committee researches and develops educational seminar offerings to our membership.
Professional HR Services: This committee coordinates the PHR/SPHR study group, facilitates the Job Link and E-Link programs and participates in the production and promotion of an Annual Salary Survey.
- HRCI Certification: The two sessions offered annually as a study group for professionals wishing to sit for the HRCI certification testing are coordinated by this team. The SHRM Learning System is used as the basis for content with certified instrucors leading the sessions.
- JobLink/ELink: This program provides a complete resource for the unemployed human resources professional including networking meetings, job listings and resume posting. ELink is strictly for the executive level human resources professional.
Workforce Readiness: Works with Association to develop programs that provide education and resources resulting in a more qualified workforce. Creates and maintains a Workforce Readiness Program, supports the local SHRM HR Student Games and invites students to association meetings and programs.
- College Relations: This is a shared responsibility with the HR Southwest Board and Dallas HR board. This committee works with the local SHRM Student Chapters. The program includes internships opportunities, scholarships, job shadowing and student activities.
