Registration for either opportunities ends March 10 or when 20 volunteers are registered.

Community Service Event - Plano's Mayor's Summer Internship Program

This is such a fun event for volunteers - allowing them to spend time with Plano ISD students and help them in building their job-seeking skills!

The Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program connects motivated junior and senior high school students with exceptional local companies and organizations. This event will help students who are applying for summer internships prepare a resume and practice with mock interviews. This will help them be prepared for when it is time to interview for a position to work with the Plano's Mayor's Program for summer employment as well as prepare them for other future job opportunities.

Volunteer Qualifications:

• assist with student check-in and line control and/or assist with mock interview sessions
• all volunteers who register will receive a mock interview packet which needs to be completed and returned post interview
• all Mock Interview Facilitators will be assigned 30-60 students for a one hour group break out session from 1:00-2:00 PM.  Prior to this students will have a session on Interviewing Skills from 12:15-12:45 PM

Special Note: Many of these mock interviews are with Plano ISD students enrolled in the school district’s AVID curriculum. They have requested assistance in preparing for their actual interview(s).  AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college access program providing additional academic support to students, typically who are more likely to be the first in their family to be college bound. With your help we believe that we can successfully prepare these students as they go forward in the interview process.


All HR practitioners are welcome! This opportunity is not limited to DallasHR members.  Please invite your colleagues, team members, HR departments.  Each volunteer is required to sign up individually online.
