HR Summit

In partnership with DallasHR, The Frisco Chamber of Commerce will host a variety of presentations and panels featuring subject matter experts that will give presentations in their respective areas, covering topics from compliance to recruiting initiatives in a full morning education event.

Session One: These are the Days of Our (HR) Lives
Presented by: Jocelyn Williams

Despite their best efforts, every workplace deals with personality conflicts and drama. Co-workers that can’t get along. Employees that aren’t happy no matter what you do. Issues that start outside the workplace and somehow find themselves squarely in the middle of the workplace. How do you handle these issues and how do you transform your workplace from Days of Our Lives to Happy Days? This presentation will address tactics, legal considerations, and best practices for resolving workplace and employee conflict. Attendees will learn how to handle complaints, when and how to take action, and a discussion of the counseling side of the HR practitioner.

Session Two: HR Never Sleeps - What's Keeping You Up at Night?
Moderator: Dustin Paschal
Panelists: Karen Cunningham, Holly Novak and Traci Clements

Between the courts, the various legislatures, and the numerous agencies there is always something new or emerging that affects the workplace and the workforce and HR must always be on top of it. Not to mention the day to day issues always arising as a result of changes in company policies, employee issues and concerns, and general human nature. There is always something to keep an HR professional up at night. Our expert panel will address a variety of these issues in an HR Potpourri format. Topics will include emerging benefits issues like pawternity and paid sick leave, workplace drug policies and how these are affected by evolving medical marijuana laws, potential changes as a result of legislative and agency bills and proposals, legal and other issues as a result of an aging workforce, handling unique wage and hour issues, issues arising from younger generations in the workforce, other topics affecting HR. After this presentation attendees will gain valuable information to address every aspect of their workforce and maybe even get a little more sleep at night!

Recruitment Marketing and Incentives
Presented by: Allison Lyons

Recruitment Marketing has become an integral part of the Talent Acquisition world. Many organizations struggle with how to best separate it from their consumer brand as well as how to best position it to show value in the recruitment process. This presentation will discuss how Toyota was able to utilize Social Media platforms, (LinkedIN, GlassDoor, Facebook, Instagram, a Candidate Relationship Management System (CRM), and other recruitment tools to support a huge organizational change. The company moved and hired over 3000 team members to align in a few key locations across the country. Additionally, we’ll discuss best practices in starting a separate Recruitment Marketing team, or how to best utilize current employees. The discussion will share tools, tips, best practices, and metrics to develop your Recruitment Marketing Strategy as well as make the business case of what this is such an important part of the Talent Acquisition process.
