This interactive workshop provides guidance on how to make your resume more effective. The goal is to make it easy for Applicant Tracking Systems, Recruiters, and Hiring Managers to determine that you are a good match for the job. The presenter will provide practical recommendations, based on experience as a hiring manager and a recruiter, to enhance your resume.
Upon Completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe what not to include in your resume if you are uploading it to an Applicant Tracking System.
- Apply best practices relating to formatting a resume.
- Highlight results and accomplishments in your resume.
- Align a resume to a specific job description.
The Speaker
Carol Brickell, Certified Professional Career Coach.
Carol Brickell is certified by the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARW/CC). She has over 20 years of experience as a hiring manager and 6 years of experience as a recruiter. As a hiring manager, she received training on Behavioral Interviewing techniques, screened resumes, led team interviews, and served as a mentor to other leaders who were conducting interviews. As a recruiter, she worked in both agency and corporate environments. During that time, she reviewed resumes and conducted interviews with hundreds of candidates and placed candidates in a variety of roles including HR, Administration, Accounting, Finance, Project Management, and Sales.
Carol has extensive experience designing and teaching workshops on numerous professional topics including Resume Writing, Coaching, and Interviewing Skills.
She has gained tremendous insights about resumes and interviewing techniques by volunteering each week with the Dallas PIT (Practice Interview Team) Crew. The PIT Crew is a networking organization for job seekers where Carol serves as a panelist and coach for mock interviews to help people prepare for job interviews.
