Building Your Professional Brand

Your brand reflects your professional reputation, what you're known for (or would like to be known for). It includes marketable distinctions like positive characteristics, strengths and achievements. Now more than ever, you have to have a strong professional brand. Why? Because you need to stand out in the talent marketplace so that your network, recruiters, and potential employers can easily identify you for your skills and expertise.

Learning Objectives:
  - LinkedIn – it’s time to identify your values and goals as a professional
  - Appearance and Attitude – does your social brand represent you well?
  - Building your Message – understand the importance of weaving a coordinated story to ensure you have a solid brand strategy

The Speaker

Sharon Melton has spent the past 15 years providing talent development expertise to organizations as they transform leaders and workforces so they can evolve and grow.  Having personally experienced a restructuring that resulted in a layoff and career change early in her career, Sharon understands the challenges faced when starting over and how quickly digitization has changed the way we look for jobs.  She believes social media is the best and worst thing that can happen to your personal brand and spends time educating youth and adults on the topic. Sharon has previously spoken at HRSouthwest, to intern teams across DFW and volunteers in her local community speaking to students about leadership or social media.  Sharon also serves on several committees while attempting to keeping up with 3 active tween/teen boys.
