Transitioning from Manager Leader to Leader Coach: Empowering HR Professionals

This session is designed to help HR professionals understand the benefits and impact they can have in coaching people leaders within their organizations to transition from a traditional "Managing Leader" mindset to a more effective "Leader Coach" approach. Attendees will explore the differences between managing and coaching leadership styles and learn practical strategies for fostering a coaching culture that promotes employee development, engagement, and organizational success.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the Difference Between Managing and Coaching Leadership Styles:

    •     Define the characteristics and behaviors associated with a traditional "Managing Leader" versus a "Leader Coach" approach

    •     Identify the limitations of a managing leadership style and the benefits of adopting a coaching mindset in today's dynamic and innovative organizations

  2. Overview of Coaching Skills for People Leaders:

    •     Learn fundamental coaching techniques, such as active listening, powerful questioning, and providing constructive feedback

    •     Explore strategies for empowering people leaders to shift from directive management to facilitative coaching, empowering employees to find their own solutions and take ownership of their development

  3. Cultivate a Coaching Culture within the Organization:

    •     Understand the role of HR professionals in driving the adoption of a coaching culture across the organization

    •     Explore methods for promoting coaching behaviors and values, including leadership development programs, coaching circles, and peer-to-peer coaching initiatives

  4. Support People Leaders in Overcoming Barriers to Coaching:

    •     Identify common challenges and barriers that people leaders may face in transitioning to a coaching leadership style

    •     Provide information for HR professionals to assist people leaders in overcoming resistance, building confidence, and embracing the principles of coaching leadership and evaluating its organizational effectiveness

IMPORTANT: Advance registrations are strongly recommended. Due to catering requirements, we cannot guarantee seating for onsite registrants. To receive cancellation credit, your written request must be received at DallasHR by 12:00 noon, no later than the Friday before the meeting.

Payment is due with registration. No POs or requests for invoicing can be honored. Checks should be made payable and mailed (to be received no later than the Friday before the meeting) to the DallasHR Office.

Chapter members and guests are not allowed to bring and/or distribute marketing collateral or material other than business cards to any chapter event except paid, sponsoring businesses. Please make arrangements to be on time. Lunch service will cease when the luncheon presentation begins. This is a rule set by the HR Certification Institute for presentations that are approved for credit. Attendees who arrive after 11:45 AM may not be served lunch and your seat may be released to onsite registration attendees.
